Here are the total flu deaths from the report. From 1979 to 2001, the stats were released every two years.

They say that the chances of anyone getting it as Ms. Jennings did, is 1 in a million. To put that in perspective, the chances of winning the Texas lottery is 1 in 25,000,000 or, 25 times more unlikely
than getting dystonia, but , millions in Texas think that 1 in 25 million still gives them a chance of winning and plop down their money to get included in the lottery. I don't want to be included in the Guillain-Barré Syndrome lottery, nor the Dystonia lottery, so I will not be taking the shot or getting the spray something introduced into my nasal cavity. Each person much make an informed consent decision, and this is just a bit of info for you to think about.

PS, given the numbers, when they develop a vaccine against car wreck caused deaths, I may take that one :) .
