Modec battery powered electric vans are now running from Shrewsbury's Tesco Extra environmental store.

Recharged overnight with a maximum speed of 50 mph and a 100 mile range, each one saves 21 tonnes of CO2 a year - equal to driving 51,000 miles. They have a smooth and silent engine with very powerful acceleration.

Coventry manufacturers Modec have ensured they have the same capacity as a standard tesco.com van.

  • Gasoline and Diesel powered vehicles are trash. There is no debate about this if you have been to the pump in the past decade in most countries. Most of them are designed to catastrophically fail around a year after their warranty expires, and maintenance for them is VERY expensive.

Electric vehicles are MUCH cheaper to maintain (no oil changes, only ONE moving engine part, no tune-ups, etc.), and guess what... batteries can be recycled! That's right. Can fossil fuels be recycled?

  • What are going to do will those battaries. Fill all the landfill with them and cause a way more serious problem. Stick with gas, and make vehicles more energy eficient.

  • I'm a fleet Manager in Highway Maintenance, we have 10 of these vehicles, they're pretty good..

  • AWSOME!
