    Boiling is always a good option because it kills the nasty bugs in it, problem is 1)It requires a lot of fuel to boil water, especially when you need a lot of it 2) it does not filter it either.

    These are Sodium dichloroisocyanurate, so perfumes or scents added, seems to be the saem stuff used for water purification tablets.

    I haven't found any EPA Registered products here in the U.S. other that this which is included along with sodium chlorite: ASEPTROL-SE

    WATER PURIFIER

    TABLETS. It may be safe to drink by WHO standards but not sure about the U .S. I've real through some studies but still uncertain when its not registered in the U.S other than for pool supplies.

    Is the smell level around normal pool water what you are thinking about ?

    I would guess that maybe running a test smell with liquid bleach and following CDC recomendations could be someone you could do to train yourself to measure the right quantity.
