Salatin does not own a television, according to his remarks elsewhere. He recommends that people engage each other in games; not machines. He believes we will find more satisfaction in 'embracing the dance of life' than in mindless distractions. He recommends that we discover the world around us for ourselves, instead of letting media spoon-feed us or program how we think about things - like soil. Seems worth trying.

He is simply bringing back natural food source to people versus food corporations try to kill us on mass just for their profit starting from GMOs and fast foods.

Not sure where the question about art, music, or books fits in with Salatin's comments on TV & video games. His worldview may be that the real, firsthand experience is better than the synthetic or secondhand. Instead of playing with or through a machine, he might encourage us to engage each other in play, directly, face2face. And to join 'the dance of life'. Worth considering, eh?

Pardon the necro-bump, but I think he's getting at priorities, not that games, music, and TV exist. E.G. watching Youtube isn't bad as long as it doesn't stop me from staying faithful to my exercise routine. I interpreted Joel's speech as saying that if people, on average, spend 20 hours a week on TV, they can afford to trim a few hours off to grow a garden or something like that.
