  • Ralfy, I've enjoyed your whisky vlogs for years. My wife & I and another couple, are coming to Scotland May 2012. I know with so much to do in 10 days that distillery tours are not high on the group's lists. But they are high on mine. If you had only one day, what distillery(s) would be your top choice? Or what region should I insist that we visit? I can tell you Ardbeg & Lephroaig are two of my favorites but would they make the best day of touring? P.S. Anything you want from Canada? Thanks

  • @liljimmylv

if you are in Glasgow, Glengoyne/Auchentoshan, if you are in Edinburgh, Glenkinchie. Have a good trip.

  • I met someone from Macallan who seemed to say that regular casks were 500 l, and quarter casks about 150 l, is that possible?

  • @bonheurbrun

by 'regular' casks they must mean sherry butts which vary from 450 to over 700 litre capacity. Quarter cask volumes can vary also.

  • I don't understand.. the Quarter Cask is cheaper than the 10 yo, and there is also more % alcohol.... how is this possible?

  • @bonheurbrun

    promotion and sales-encouragment !

  • I just picked up a bottle of this stuff for the weekend, I can't wait to get off work tonight and open it up.

  • @Equity213 I'm surprised that you don't know, since you're Canadian, that Ontario and Quebec have government-managed alcohol stores. You can't buy any spirits outside their stores. Therefore the prices are the same everywhere in those provinces. Ontario stores are called LCBO and Quebec SAQ.

  • Does anyone else notice any variation from bottle to bottle? Im on my third bottle on QC and I have to say its not nearly as good as the first two were. Its very indistinct, im really dissapointed.

  • @bonheurbrun

You have to shop around. Some places want big bucks for these whiskys but here in Alberta Ive found QC for $41 (superstore) and the 10 for $46 (sherbrook liquor).

Try superstore liquor stores, selection isnt great but prices sure are.

  • @ralfystuff

And if you leave it underground long enough to fossilize, you'll get coal

  • @bonheurbrun Eheh, but at least Canada has got very interesting whisky distilleries, while in Italy we make only Grappas. Ok, they are a great specific spirit world, but I'm trying to understand why there isn't any "Italian Whisky". I mean: we have marvellous spring waters, and fields for the colture of any useful cereals. Anyway, I'll drink foreign whiskies for the sake of education! Money permitting, of course.

  • @KarelZeddandoddoTube thanks for that! Here, the 10yo is 80$ and the QC is 70$. ... Canada is the problem.

  • @bonheurbrun In Italy the 10yo costs 25€ but the QC 36€. Not cheaper.

  • oh... i can almost smell it (:
