I have a question for you. im trying to run 3 pc system in my basement. Just for the perpose of having a couple friends over and gaming on the internet. Yes for insdance black ops. these internet network switches are they reliable for having more than 1 pc running. Do you have any recomendations on how i should look into to running more than 1 pc at a time for gaming. ty i can use the help.

cat5 is for 100Mbit, cat5e is for 1Gbit... both 100MHz... cat6 is for 10Gbit and 250MHz...

Long story short cat 6 is better and is about the same money as cat5e so which one makes the most sense to get. Cat6 is like having cat5e transfering the most data it can at all times but cat6 go go further. CAT 6 FTW

is it hard to add a gigabit ethernet connector to a computer because right now it doesnt have it all it has is a normal internet slot and is there a real big diffrence if i did i would say my internet speed is like 1mbps ya i know sucks

yes cat5 and cat6 and cat7 have the same Rj45 plug.
any ways I have to say that it does not matter if you change from a cat5 to cat6 cord the speed does not change in your situation.
to have a whole network and or internet improvement you will need to change all the wiring to cat6,router,and even the your bandwidth connection to go up to cat6 standard.
any way I think the cat5 is ok for your xbox.
