If you watch an interview of him about the economy you will observe that there is no alternative so he should not be blamed.

clinkt, for you to assume that slaves could help this country but not themselves is the most ignorant thing anyone can assume. maybe if westerners let them colonize themselves instead of burdening them with their own greedy creedence, they could be more advanced. who could even take a comment seriously from a person who calls africa a country. read a book and learn something.
gov. patterson seems like a decent man who obviously took his time to learn about the world that he could not see.

OMG! I nearly spit out my soup when she said "...we wouldn't have this country if it weren't for the slaves that built it". Give me a break! Slaves did a lot of work in this country because they had no choice. Without slaves the country would have still been built - albiet at a slow rate and a much greater cost but to draw the conclusion that the country wouldn't exist, is really quite foolish.
There are still plenty of Africans in Africa and that country is a dump. Any more questions?!
