All the fuel doesn't burn when the engine turns that quickly with no load, so when it reachs the right ratio of air, which is somewhere between the pipes and the fresh air, it ignites.
This of course makes a loud, high bass noise, which carries enough energy to make cars think they're getting smacked ;)
