  • This is all I got to see. Mr. Winslow was

home, but I sure wasn't going to disturb him.

I think Dean's grandfather was a farmer, but

I haven't been able to find out where it was.

  • No, Marcus Winslow, Jimmy's cousin lives there with

his wife now, they have never opened the house for

tours, think it would be nice if just for a few days

a year. They dont mind coming in their driveway and

taking photos, but we did ask at the museum (when it

was still going) if it would be all right.

  • I grew up just down the road from the Winslows and still live in the small town of Fairmount. As a friend of the Winslow family I can tell you that they are happy to come out and talk most of the time but you must understand that this is their home. Just as you wouldn't want strangers walking in and out of your home all the time they too like their privacy. They are the most down to earth people and enjoy just being on the farm and living their small town life.

  • I just got back from there, shooting my documentary. Phil Zigler, neighbor of the Winslow's, took me around the farm. Jimmy's basket ball hoop with the old chain net is still there. it was amazing. Phil showed me the car he drove in high school with his tassel hanging in the rear-view mirror. It was amazing. Great people in Fairmount.

  • Ive always wanted to do this. Thank you for posting. Im reading the comnents and awed that a few people lived close by.

  • nice place,,, where a legend grew.

  • or Create a video response * I love James Dean. I just hate the fact that people chip off pieces of his grave marker. It is so disrespectful. In addition to disrespectful, it is stealing. I am sure the family has to pay for a replacement when it is time. His family is beyond generous with JD's fans. The least people could do is respect others property.

  • it gives chills

  • its like you see his ghost in a window lol

  • @JettRink50 As a fan, yes it would be nice to have a tour of the house but I understand Markie. This is his home. But also James Dean was not a great legend to him, they were cousins, family that needs to be respected, I think you and most fans do The fact that he talks to fans for nearly 55 proves what a kind man his parents raised.

  • did elvis ever visit here?

  • I visited Fairmount in 1978, just to see where James Dean lived and where he was buried. A really pleasant young lady named Terri (Theresa?) gave me a lift and showed me around in her car. Took me to the Winslow house, if my memory serves me right she got the old museum opened just for me and took me to where JD is buried. She said her dad, a chicken farmer, went to school with James Dean. She would be age around 50 now, if she sees this, just to say thanks again from England.

  • Really nice farm house.
