  • Capitalism is the historic evolution of private property relationship of alienation, exploitation and suffering of humanity in a template of commodity production for profit in a politically amnipulated world market system. A system of abstract capital accumulation and concentration in a monetary web of wage slavery of immense humanity. We need to evolve to a world of cooperation for our common needs and well being in harmony within and without. Capitalism is prehistorical suffering

  • It's sad that Froom is writing at a time when it was taken for granted that human beings have rights that need to be respected. I think we've moved backwards over the past thirty years, to the point where what were considered basic human rights, like the right not to starve and not to be tortured, are now considered no more than PR slogans with no inherent or real value.

The only right our society passionately defends is the right to earn and defend profit and property.

  • Instead of being citizen's to Government an Council, we have become 'clients' & 'customers' of public 'services', many of which are now supplied by outsourcing to the private sector. Why should we be 'purchasing' anything from Government & Council who are paid & funded handsomely to provide these 'services'? Governments have become corporatised, unaccountable entities, freely selling off our once, public assets for peanuts, in many cases to the very GOC's & QUANGO's that they have created.

  • Just for the record...I have decided to volunteer for something...I am not doing this for the State or for the Government...I hope to spread some sunshine and in turn get some sunshine back....As a volunteer I can give as little or as much as I want and I call the shots. I dont get paid and so I have nothing to lose...I am fortunate I am retired and I will fit it in as I think fit. I feel happier....I will let you know how it turns out....stay happy...we need more happy people in this world

  • EloNr1 Whilst I abhor oppressors...I also believe in Love and I can never subscribe to the idea that "shooting someone dead" will solve anything.... I believe in do as you would be done by...or live by the sword and die by the sword"...... Each of us has to be "true to oneself"....we are all human if we begin to think we have the right to kill or exploit another we are no longer human but we become a thing....as Fromm says we are then no longer homo sapiens.

  • @Cardywhite111 thats exactly what they want. The whole concept of capitalism is not based on money, that is just superficial, actually it is about power over others. The main goal of capitalism is humiliation, torture and sadism. These are the underlying principles of our society, look around; how many times one was called an idiot when he cared about others? It is the monkey with sophisticated tools that runs the business, and meanwhile i believe this is a long incestous line o.particular families.

  • Burn ,Wall Street, burn. There is no way around, the perverts won`t give in a grain in sucking out everybodies live for their rich. All older, experienced men agree: They have to be shot dead. I pray for another 9/11; rather havoc with some perspective than this satanic, sadistic system of war against the human soul itself. I despise the former communist spy-regimes, but even they never went that far.

  • @glower125 In his book fear of freedom Eric Fromm criticises capitalism as a destructive dehumanising minority imposition creating the material condition for plenty in harmony if we overcome the limiting market mechanism for a moneyless, classless, stateless communities of humanity where no fear is socially manufactured.

  • @arzoyan That's very interesting. Erich Fromm in his book "Escape from Freedom" debates that man had moved from a society imbued in the spirit of cooperation and dependence to an individualistic prone society. He termed this evolution, progress, liberation and freedom "to". Now we can see this was actually a regression of humanity that had stepped in wage slavery and destructive consumption.

  • I believe we are already in the situation where we are simply tools of the state....I have worked all my life, paid taxes, brought up my children to be good citizens, work , pay taxes etc but I see that the culture is steering them and my grandchildren to consumption. I oppose war and have protested but to no avail....now Cameron wants us to volunteer....I already do this in my family and neighbourhood. What more do they want blood?

  • @Morgena1 Me too.
