What are we looking at with the white smoke discharged from the ~1" pipes below? Crankcase breather?

Below is also smoke and the pipes are for drainage.

Driver didn't need protection in Soviet times. On the railcrossings were heavy metal sheets that prevented any vehicles from getting in the way. Also because 30 years and more ago car was a luxury object that cost very much, people cared about their cars and thought before crossing the r/r carelessly

Этот дизель-поезд, по всему, только что из ремонта и производится первый запуск дизеля после простоя.

Периодические хлопки это последствие вспышки в одном из цилиндров дизеля, в то время остальные еще не срабатывают. А "пар" из-под поезда это тоже выхлоп дизеля, только из дренажной трубы выхлопной системы.

А "по сценарию" вспышки в цилиндре должны быть...???? (с хлопками вместе)

не знаю как по русски но у автомашин бывает misfire это когда в выхлопную чтото не то попадает

так как эти хлопки (у дизеля) звучат в жизни? как петарды или как битьё молотком.
