Some writers have erroneously referred to Deee-Lite as a „One Hit Wonder"band and never bothered to discover what they were all about. Deee-Lite never aspired to be the next big pop thing in the industry. They came from the underground club scene of DJ's, bohemians, Funksters, artists, club kids and drag queens. They had been writing music and performing since 1986. But in terms of chart success they sold millions of albums and had 13 chart entries. Their main success was onh the dance charts

every year MTV and VH1 ask me to be on this show called one hit wonders and every year I tell them to fuck off! how can you have a pop radio hit in the USA when the record label your'e on dosn't put up the cash for you to get on the radio. I'm happy with the 6# 1 billboard dance hits we had- you dont need to pay them money for that spot. -Lady Kier
