I'm a Mets fan, but even I'll admit that Gil Hodges, Duke Snider, Don Zimmer, Sandy Koufax, Don Drysdale and Carl Furillo playing significantly in LA for the same organization makes it hard for the Mets to claim Brooklyn's history. Even Pee Wee Reese spent a year in LA! It's why historians refer to the history as National League baseball in general. What makes it more confusing is that the Dodgers' & Giants' fortunes reversed when they moved west. Now, the Giants are the ones who can't win a WS.

yeah it's kinda sad really, i hate the giants but their mediocrity is really making the rivalry insignificant. with that gay team from anaslime making the playoffs every year the freeway series is actually starting to overshadow the rivalry with the gnats. i was actually hoping the giants would win the wildcard this year so we could perhaps get a dodgers-giants NLCS. that would have brought the rivalry to a whole new level!!! GO DODGERS

The Dodgers claim it but thats all. Go to a Cyclone game and see all the Brooklyn Dodger stuff. Go to Citifield which looks identical to Ebbetts Field. Had O'Malley left today he would have been forced to leave the name behind, unfortunately no one had the foresight or stomach to call his bluff..

Twe very different franchises. The court said that, aabd MLB was over ruled and never challenged that decision. This is why the LA Dodgers don't get any residuals from the sale of Brooklyn Dodger merchandise.

You Los Angelitos live in your own world The courts don't recognize one franchise but two individual franchises, one in Brooklyn until 1957 and the one that continues to exist in LA. O'Malley left New York because he hated the fact that blacks and Latinos were coming to the game and goes to LA, the land of race riots earthquakes and budget disasters. Good friggin riddance. But always know the Boys of Summer will always be ours along with all the pennants that the Giants Metsand Yankees won

The people involved in Brooklyn were involved in LA as well. I won't sit here and claim the 55 Series is ours, but I can't not respect the history and not feel like it's a part of the current club.

Your comments on O'Malley are ridiculous by the way.

you got it right! though it was that pig robert moses even more than O'Malley--you Los Angeles folks can call them the dodgers all you want but guess what you can eat dung and call it steak as for the giants and yankees I don;t give a rats ass SF was welcome to them and the racist Yankees(as they were then) should move to Boston to keep the racist red sox company
