The melody of this hymn is based on an ancient Jewish melody. It has been suggested that Christ himself would have, more than likely, sung this melody. Here I improvise the hymn on the Rodgers 835 organ with pipes in the Wesley United Methodist Church, Rochester, NY. (Just a footnote, all the stops used in this selection are digital, the pipe ranks were NOT used.)

  • The 835 is a WONDERFUL organ. Ours was struck by lightning and we replaced it with a 3 M Trillium Masterpiece. The 835 was much richer sounding. I loved the 835.

  • @zimbelstern62 Good morning, yes, indeed, we love our 835. It sounds so much like a big Skinner. I once asked Jonass Nordwall (Who worked at Rodgers along with Tom Hazleton, what organ was used to obtain the samples for the 835. The answer really surprised me. It was the Wicks in the big Methodist church that Jonass plays (and still plays) at in Portland. Anyway, thanks so much for your post. Tim Schramm
