  • Dave is one of the only trombonists pushing the envelope. His innovation has given him his career. Bravo to him and people that are intelligent enough to appreciate that he's trying to do something new.

As a student of his I can say that he has full command over the classical rep, and being able to play side by side with him was an ENORMOUS learning experience.

  • Yes I have met him. SO have a lot of other people. The fact that you think he "full of crap" is something that should be kept out of your posting. The video has nothing to do with crap and I have no idea why you feel it's necessary to say so. I don't idolize Dave, I don't even play the trombone. I just find it unnecessary to say such comments. If you don't have anything constructive to say, then just don't say anything.

  • terrifying performance and der doppelganger is like this black cloud...so ominous, wow

  • sick

  • @contrabassbob

And that first phrase and it's repetition a few minutes later, is awesome!

  • @syr1811

Expression, yes!! Too many people are bogged down in the standard ruts. I don't like every single note/miniphrase in this, but the whole is quite nice- great sound, individuality, humor, skill, eerie plunger work,...

  • David Taylor (my friend) IS Mr. Bass Trombone

  • This is just great music.

  • cool

  • I'm not really familiar with the original pieces, but Loved his improv. Great tone, power & expression. Cool upload, gbone.

  • After over a dozen listenings, I'm still thoroughly absorbed by this.

  • Brilliant vocalizing with the plunger.
