A great song by Mundo Earwood. It came out at about the same time Behind Blue Eyes by the Who came out and was thought to be a cover. This song stands on its own. Sorry about the hiss, crackles and pops but I can't find a remastered version to save my soul. Until that happens I am just happy to be able to bring you ANY version of it. I don't know who wrote it or who performed it with him. If anyone out there can enlighten us I'd be very grateful. Enjoy.

  • Mundo (short for Ramundo, spanish for Raymond) Earwood was born in Del Rio TX & eventually moved to Humble TX, a Houston suburb. The self-penned "Behind Blue Eyes" was the first charting hit for the 20-year-old in 1972. It eventually wound up on Mundo's first vinyl lp, "Chapter One" in 1977. He released a string of singles on several labels & 2 more albums. He also went by Mundo Ray briefly with Epic Records.

  • @pgh45rpms Thanks for the info pgh45rpms. Never knew he went by Mundo Ray for a time. Wonder if anything by him at Epic is still around.

  • Hi,thanks for posting this absolutely beautiful singer.

Only discovered him recently thanks to posts on youtube.Found an LP,to convert to cd.

And he writes most of his songs, what a talent, wish he would record again, and show some of these so called ''new country singers''?how it's done.

  • @BABSINUK Thanks for your comments. Guys like Mundo are the reason I started this channel. So much overlooked talent out there. I hope my little channel helps in rectifying that in some way. Let me know when you convert your LP as the quality of my Mundo songs is not very good and I would love to upgrade their quality.

  • First saw Mundo Earwood at the Crystal Chandelier off old Hempstead Hwy. I couldn't stop, I was a roady for weeks. Tin Hall, Western Swing, Diamond Back Club I saw him everywhere I could. To me he was the bad ass of bad ass Honky Tonk singers. The problem with country music today is to much POP and Rap mixed into it.

  • I know mundo!! Really him and my grabdfather are great friends!

  • Hard one to forget.

  • My old haunts were 59 Ballroom, Western Swing, Country Land Ballroom, Conroe Ballroom, Gilleys and Bo Hickeys in Alvin. Gosh I miss this type of music:-)

  • @terrylynette

OMG....I use to go to 59 back in the late 70's early 80's. Good times:-)

  • One of the most beautiful songs he's ever done! I always looked forward to playing this song when we were playing different places.

  • i used to go see mundo reguraly at 59 Ballroom just north of humble on hwy 59. such a great talent and really great guy!

  • In the '70's I worked in a club in Harker Heights TX (National Hall) he performed there regularly and always, quietly, stole the show.
