  • It works by compressing air inside a tube, like a bicycle pump, except that the air is trapped inside a sealed unit so the air works like a spring. The gas struts that hold up the tailgates of hatchback cars work in the same way. A gas-ram in an air rifle doesn't get tired and lose power over time, unlike a metal spring, and it is also smoother to cock and quieter to shoot. The only downside is that it costs more. Hope that answers your question. thanks, Howard

  • nice video by the way, i have watched it about 5 times now, lol. i am currently working towards a Theoben SLR or an Evolution, i dont know which yet, it depends on how much i get paid this summer

  • @frechproff by now you either have it or have bought a Daystate......... aplogies for late reply.....

  • hi

  • @0808SCOOTER It says Theoben H.E.System on the top of the barrel flat, might have been one of the first ones to go over to the H.E. system...

  • just noticed, you said it is a very effiecient silencer as you will hear, wouldn't it be rather as we won't hear? lol.

  • A gas ram is likened to an air spring. Instead of a metal spring, a piston inside of a cylindercompresses nitrogen and then piston/ram compresses air behind pellet. less mass in the powerplant= less recoil.

  • @supressorgrid the guy who designed it lives 3 minutes walk from me.

  • Theoben guns, I like them.

They are powerfull and well made.

Only pitty of the price tag ;-)

Which is quite high. For a budget Gas-Ram by the way take a look at the Crossman NPSS. Replace the trigger and you have a good to go Gas-Ram system.

  • do you want to sell it............?

  • can you take the silencer off

  • @hetrodoxly hmmm... got me there - maybe its because you would rather watch a video about a nice handgun or sporting rifle.......? - or maybe it reminds us that we have the most restrictive gun ownership laws next to Japan, and they make absolutely no improvement to gun crime statistics.

  • @lobo9er

    Why are airgun reviews depressing?

  • @SgtAndrewM what you can hear there is the piston hitting the forward wall of the cylinder, if you were to stand 10meters in front of it with your best mate firing it a good piece over your head you'd hardly hear a thing apart from the pellet whistling by.

trust me, because i've tried it =)

i thought exactly the same thing when i 1st got my evolution.

  • seeing these airgun reviews from the UK are depressing. And scary. Makes me think about what could happen in the US with guns and gun rights.
