@nowhammies10, thanks for the info. All I know is it really ruined the pace of the show to stop everything so the person could pick their prizes. The show today has a much better flow.

@CrazyWedz Back in the shopping era, contestants didn't HAVE to buy prizes. They could, if they wanted, put the (for example) $1800 they won in a given round entirely on a Giorgio gift certificate, or all of it On Account in order to buy bigger and better prizes (such as a car or a boat).
