My brother, me and some friends had tickets to their 1977 concert here in Baton Rouge La. where they were headed when tragedy hit the band. The remaining band members plus brother Johnny VanZant did make it into town Ten years later in a 1987 survivor/ reunion tour.Ticket holders of the 1977 concert that didn't get to see them then,...got to see them then and got to keep their unused ticket. The concert was the best and to this day i still have my unused ticket. Also i"m getting choked up now.

232 and ZERO just for you STEVE GAINES! Rest in heavenly grace. You left us too soon, must have been needed for something alwfully important.VERY BEST REGARDS

Master of both the Gibson Les Paul and the Fender Stratocaster and for good measure played a wicked slide that would have gotten the attention of the great Duane Allman. How many other great guitar players ever had that on their resumes. Fly high Okie! Lost way too soon 10/20/1977....

My uttermost love to Steve Gaines. Throughout, I can't help asking what guitarist he would be playing today? Simultaneously, what means the best? TY

all i can figure is that they needed him in the angel band.

So what band was this with? CDs?

That Okie could play!

What a talent he was, holy shit. I've listened to Skynyrd my whole life, but I am just now discovering Steve Gaines solo stuff. Its no wonder Ronnie Van Zant was so in awe of this guy. Supreme talent, taken way too early RIP.
