The idea of Awesome Points is something I thought of for this vlog, although it can be used in many situations, online and real world.
Below is the current text guide to Awesome Points, which may differ slightly from the video because I've edited it since I've made the video.
Guide to the Application and Use of Declaring Awesome Points
IAwesome Points are the equal and opposite version of Fails. As in, you declare Awesome Point! for something awesome, the same way you declare Fail! for an epic fail, or, if you prefer, phail.
IIThere are several types of circumstances where you can declare an Awesome Point (AP for short)
1If you (preferably with a group of people) witness a spectacular or amazing event, you can declare, Awesome Point! (ex. You and your friends see a random ninja fight in an urban city)
2If somebody around you says something mindblowing or astounding, you can declare an AP (ex. I say, My hometown, Long Beach, Mississippi, anagrams to impossible aching piss)
3If you see a video which you think deserves more than 5 out of 5 stars, you can comment Awesome Point (ex. My videos?)
4If you see a piece of art or still life object that you think is awesome, you can declare an AP. (ex. You open your front door and theres a brick of Jerrys there)
IIIWhen you simply declare Awesome Point! it is actually the event, statement, video, or object that gets the AP and not the person or people who are responsible for it. (ex. If you comment Awesome Point in this video, it is the video that gets the point, not me.)
1If you want to specifically give a person an awesome point, you have to actually say to that person, You, [persons name], have earned an Awesome Point! Have earned can be replaced with get or won or something similar. If that person is not present, just leave the You out of the statement. (ex. Math gets an Awesome Point)
2You can also specify this towards an event, statement, video, or object instead of a person. This can apply if two awesome things happened at once or if the situation somehow makes it unclear what you are declaring the AP for. (ex. Comment on a video: 1:15 gets an Awesome Point!)
IVAwesome Point is always capitalized for the same reason that cities, states, and countries are capitalized: each one is unique to its own location. No more than one AP can be given to each recipient, although more than one person is allowed to declare an AP as long as its understood that theyre referring to the same one. (ex. Youtube comment discussion: Awesome Point! Awesome Point! Hey, I already called it Its okay, were referring to the same AP Ohwe cool XD )
1If someone has already declared an AP for a recipient, you can concur with a simple Agreed or a similar term. (ex. Youtube comment discussion: Awesome Point! Agreed.)
VSince the concept of Awesome Points (as of June, 2009) is brand new as far as I know, there have been millions or billions of potential AP recipients that no one has declared an AP for. Therefore, I postulate that every potential recipient has already earned an AP, even if no one has technically acknowledged it.
1The recipient earns the AP when it happens or is made, but it is up to others to acknowledge it.
VITo account for the fact that each recipient gets 1 AP, not all APs have the same level of awesome.
1There is no scientific or SI unit for measuring awesome, so it cannot be stated mathematically how awesome a specific Awesome Point is.
2APs can only be measured by comparison to other APs and using the comparative adjective form. If you want to compare two things in terms of awesome, you could say something like [A]s Awesome Point is more awesome than [B]s. A and B can represent anything. More awesome than can be replaced with about the same awesome as or less awesome than or vastly more awesome than etc. (ex. PCs Awesome Point is more awesome than Macs
3You are allowed to replace the word awesome when comparing APs with a word like better or greater but it is discouraged. (Ex. Wiis Awesome Point is greater than PS3s or 360s)
4The level of awesome of an AP is determined by (1) How many people think the recipient is at least a little awesome and (2) How awesome those people think the recipient is. (ex. The AP for one person thinking something is extremely awesome is about the same awesome as the AP for two people thinking something is adequately awesome, but is less than the AP for two people thinking something is extremely awesome and this example gets an Awesome Point!)
VIIDont declare Fail Point! It is not morally wise to determine how much fail something has compared to other things, so dont compare things based on Fail Points. Just declaring Fail! is good enough.
