  • Just curious. I got a Clavinet C yesterday and had to rework it like crazy to get it working but the pickups pickup any slight tap or bump on the case. Same with the keys. You can hear a thud everytime I press down on a key. Do this happen to you too? I'm thinking I either need new rubber mounts for the pickups or key bushings.

  • @dzlvs8 can't help you there i'm afraid.

its a very simple design. mine picks RF and all sorts of other stuff when i plug it in. haven't got round to shielding the preamp yet though:(

I actually quite like all the dirt and noise i get from it.....

  • I believe that when Stevie recorded Superstition he did it on a Clavinet C1 like this. Not the D6. You can tell a slight difference between the C1 & the D6. I kinda like the C1 better. To me it captures more of that Clav sound on many recordings.

  • yes superstition was on a c1.

pretty cool sound.pre-amp a bit noisey though, not well shielded, still a great sound though!

  • are you reading that music?

  • no, just jamming some changes...

  • Hah, stumbled across your video again a year later. BTW what kind of phaser are you using? I have a few different phasers on my digitech rp355 and none of them sound right. I am looking to get an analog phaser (maybe it will help me play as good as you lol). Any suggestions on a good phaser. MXR 90?

  • @leeryboy Ha, the hiss isnt all that bad if its quiet because it sounds like a guitar hissing. Its also kinda cool when you crank it up next to the amp and get feedback. In regards to the other noises, they can be interesting. I get transmissions from the moon if I move my clavinet to certain areas around the room.

To fix the hiss, you need two capacitors put on your preamp. There is a vintage vibe video that explains it somewhat. Either get the caps yourself or buy there 25 preamp kit.

  • +1 for playing in the bath robe. I do it all the time.

  • I agree, the C is the model that has an extra wooden warmth and punch. I'd say the D6 and E6 are more HiFi, but you don't necessarily want that. The C is more like a Gibson guitar, thick and punchy. Excellent video, thanks for the good quality!

  • You've certainly got no shortage of rhythm in them fingers. This has an excellent feel.. real in the pocket. Also, holy crap, that's a beautiful C1!! And you've got it in absolutely perfect tune, so, bravo to you. Isn't the feel of a clav just a dream come true?

  • ehi man, cool. Which phaser you're using?

  • and where is the nord stage??

  • I like that funk sound.
