The Choreographed Conservative Party Sketch was cut by the BBC from the opening of episode 38 of "Monty Python's Flying Circus" when a 1970s U.K. repeat aired too close to an election, and was never re-inserted. (It was replaced by a few simple graphics.) This comes from a Canadian collector's ½-inch off-air recording of a Buffalo PBS broadcast back in 1978. Alas the TV station's chyron advertising a pledge fund drive is burned into the screen (gee, thanks, WNED!), making this pretty unusable now as-is -- but, still fun. Here I've redone the MP4 from what I originally uploaded a few years ago.

Watch for news of a proper restoration.

Cheers,
David Morgan ("Monty Python Speaks")

  • HAHAHAHAH funniest thing I've seen in a while. Just saw it on the One Show BBC1. Cleese is a genius

  • @McYoosh At the very end of the Video is Sousa's "The Liberty Bell". not sure if this is the one you meant or as davidsmorgan said below with the Sugar Plum Fairy!

  • Nice to see something new, thanks.

  • @lastswordfighter Quite the opposite - Ministry of Silly Walks sketch is from episode 14 while this is episode 36.

  • @Petrikau It quite clear that some of the movements were adapted for the Silly Walks sketch.

  • @MrBuch169169 No problem.

  • @lastswordfighter Oh, thanks very much!

  • @MrBuch169169 According to what I've heard there was an election going on at the time this was to be aired. Fearing that it would influence voters to vote differently the BBC cut it.

  • Why on EARTH was this cut?!
