I've read this book, and I can recommend it. It was page-turningly good, and peopled with interesting characters. I'd like to see it made into a film one day.

I think you have a new genre here, Geoff. Unless we think back to the days of The Stainless Steel Rat. But just imagine having to type "The Stainless Steel Rat" 900 times. No wonder writers went for names like Bal & Kes.

I think "Kallandra" is the right balance of Arizona grit and space cadet. And she's by no means the only engaging character.

It'll never be crossover -- too way-out. But it'll help nail the coffin of skiffies full of clockwork characters. I've MET the people you describe!
