Be sure to lick all electrical connections prior to insertation (giggity).
When testing batteries, it's best to stand in a puddle.
Most volt regs are internal. So this step is usually necessary since you're just popping in a a new alternator and taking the old one back for the core deposit (aka beer money)

Do alternators generate current when submerged, or when filled with sand; such as could happen in a desert? Obviously, the alternator is a stupid device that should be made into a solid-state device.
