Dear junk videoviewer,
If you read it in the context including Arjuna's question from 11:51 to 11:55., you can easily see that Sri Krishna is extolling the greatness of single minded devotion (Bhakti) over study of the Vedas, Charity and Penance.
But since everyone is not capable of Sankhya yoga, therefore one is recommended to do Karma Yoga dedicating all the duties "Dharma" (which includes Dana) to Sri Krishna (11:55)......

RamNirmal,
You did not name any dharma shastra. Are you actually quoting this information from any authentic book? You seem to take grand-ma stories and pass them as Hindu dharma.
naham vedair na tapasa na danena na cejyaya ... (Bhagavadgita 11:53)
You can know me neither by studying Vedas, by austerities, nor by charity ...
You seem to suggest quite opposite as Hindu Dharma. Quote some puranic, vedic, or other scriptural literature please.

hi i feel very great. for your social responsibility . We have very good idea of developing our society by spending less than 10% of our earning. And in a integrated way. If you wanna discuss let me know . And finally in our project money is not matter at all.

Very inspiring story. Thank you for posting this video. Please post videos like this on charity.

What i feel is since we pay income tax, more than 10% is covered in that..

10% of income to charity.
I cant even give 1% of income for charity.
If I give 10% of income to charity, I will soon be broke. Plus the income tax.
Good Story though
if your spouse and kids don't believe in this kind of charity and create a situation (with help of relatives and friends) where you have to choose either charity to others or breaking family apart, what does Dharma Shastra say? BTW, which book are you referring to? Manu Dharma Shastra? or any other?

@junkvideoviewer You may have to convince your family, if you feel it correct to that. your spouse should either have compassion to help others or at least they should allow you to do so ( as you love it) and they love you. If they are neither compassionate themselves nor loving you to accept you doing it, its not worth continuing the relationship.

Well, I still do not see any references to shastras. What dharma shastra are you referring to?

There is a concept of Dasanka (10%) in Hindu charity. There is no single author for Dharma Sashthra. There is no contradictions. What Krishna is trying to convey here is knowledge or penance or charity alone you can not reach me. That doesn't mean that u shud not be doing any of them. Bhakthi Yoga (Puja & penance), jnyana yoga (seeking God through Knowledge), and Karma Yoga (by action - where Dharma shastra comes in). Pls google tithing in Hinduism and take the link to en.allexperts site.

Is the Income Tax, that we pay to Government to take care of needy people and society, also comes under this definition?? Please explain. We pay around 25-30% of our income as IT.

Ideally yes, if the tax that you are paying is clearing all your fellow men problems. It is not happening now due to various reasons. So, if its possible, you should directly contribute so that you can see another being getting relieved from it's pain or problem b4 ur eyes and that happiness itself is the compensation, though there are many other benefits also. Paying Tax, is forced on you. But sharing further can happen if you are really compassionate.
