Well, this is a revelation. I wish the Sophie Tucker tribute album this came from would miraculously make it C.D. Patti sings this classic with great feeling and intimacy. I think the arrangement was by Lew Douglas. Comparing the Page and Francis versions is like comparing apples to oranges. Totally different artists, both originals.

@61marilyn Patti Page does a good job as well, but Connie's voice is outstanding and she did it in Yiddish and English

On my mothers death bed... with tears, I asked my mom to forgive me for anything i did that hurt her...and you know how she replied..."What....? I don't know what you are talking about...". and she waved her hand... as if to dismiss any of that sadness...and looked at me inquisitively..Isn't that something? She truly didn't remember a thing! That's a mother for you! They love us through it all.
