My boyfriend told me to ask the vet about why my 4 month old pitbull sways when she gets her rabies shot it two weeks. I didnt know what that ment so I decided to look up the info and also to find a video. The symptoms I kind of thinking I might be over exaggrating but then I saw the video and realized thats how my dog acts. Im not too sure about the bunny hop. Never really thought to observe that. She can jump on the couch but she needs a running start. Also she sits exactly like that when I g

@bendslikeawillow I didn't say it was connected to HD, I said it can contribute to hip problems. Learn to read.

@08souljaboy Why do you have a seven week old puppy? Pups need to be with their littermates and mother for a minimum of 8 weeks. Only a back yard breeder would let a pup go that early. Who knows what horrible health issues your irresponsibly bred puppy will face. Yes, it's possible it's HD.

@Simplemindedgenius Having a docked tail is totally unrelated to HD. One thing has nothing to do with the other.

This is why the uneducated and unresponsible people shouldn't breed dogs. A whole pedigree of "fair" hips yet she went ahead and created a litter anyway. Breeders need to be screened incredibly closely to distinguish a back yard breeder from a reputible breeder. It can save you a lot of money and heart ache. Poor guy is obviously in severe pain. So sad it would have been so easy to avoid.
What treatment has he undergone? I REALLY think that my 6 month Rottie puppy has it.. We knew that the breeder wasn't going to be reliable whatsoever when we got her, because they had over 50 dogs on their property and kept them in barns. But the only reason that we got her from a breeder was because she was "broken" and no one wanted her and honeslty I wanted her out of the hell hole. Due to bad breeding she was born blind and it looks like she already has hip dysplasia...

@KristinaTsaiwe did not do any surgery/ invasive procedures on him but chose symptom management per the advice of his vet at the time as we can't really tell how a dog will do in the future based off xrays or present symptoms. elliot looked real bad as a puppy, is 'okay' (noticeable but does alright) now, and we dont know obviously about his future. i didnt want to put him through surgery but i know its always an option for the future if he is in pain or can't function. i'm sorry for your rott!

When puppies are young, nutrition is a must and also the pregnant mom. There is another thing in which all breeders must know and understand. a young pup just learning to stand needs carpet, dirt, grass not tile. I see your young pup has tile. I dont know how young you got this pup, but did you ever notice that he slipped on the tile? if a breeder raises young pups on a slipper floor, a pups hips may be damaged. at one week old these pups need to be able to grasp the floor and pull themselves.

@shepalutes I didn't breed him myself. If he were confined to a whelping box with tile and newspaper.. yes I can see your point. Unfortunately I don't know his early days. Many owners have linoleum in their kitchens and their dogs aren't dysplastic. I understand how nutrition and environment each play a role in the development of H.D.. however, if you are genetically predisposed, you are genetically predisposed. The only OFA dog in his pedigree is One 'Good' and many related 'Fair' hips.
