I always have areas I need improvement in, but I'm fairly happy with this one.

  • Hello. I am a student and instructor of the martial arts and have been training for 13 years. I have dan ranks in Shotokan and Goju ryu and have a very deep appreciation for different styles. I have been fortunate enough to train in a couple of Chito Ryu katas such as Seisan, Shi Ho hai and Ro hai dai, and i wanted to ask you if the chito ryu stances are traditionally shorter and higher? This kata is particularly interesting to me. Nicely done and thank you for sharing it with us. Osu.

  • @Bulosan21 Hello! Yes, Chito Ryu stances do tend to be a little shorter and higher though maybe not quite as short and high as in this video; we are all working to improve. A proper Chito Ryu seisan dachi should have the front knee pushed out over the toe. This provides stability in the stance. By keeping the stances shorter and higher it promotes faster movement.

  • Who do you train under?

  • @ZMasterRoshiZ I am currently training under Sensei Randall MacLean

  • When you did this kata I could tell you did not understand most of the moves and what they do.I have been instructed to know ten applications for every single move in all the katas before I can be promoted to black belt....and they have to work against my Shihan.Think like that and you may get more out of your katas.

  • Again, thanks for the input. I'll keep working at it.

  • Thanks, BandanaBoy123. A number of the kata have prescribed bunkai (applications) but this particular one does not. That being said the kata offers many possibilities for one who takes the time to learn.

  • You seem a very nice man, not familiar with the style you do, but do you have application for the kata you do?

  • I generally only get to see him twice a year so I try to make the most of it when I do!

  • i actually go to sensei highashi's karate school in toronto i see him like 3x a day, never knew he was so popular lol
