  • miners make good money. i dont know what this guy means.

  • @89witchhunter Miners make decent money these days. It hasn't always been like that. The song is written in the context of those tougher days.

  • Greetings from Poland Silesia Coal Miner.

  • Greetings friend and thanks for watching!

  • Terrence - You're an excellent song writer! How about doing a few more coal mining songs! Did you grow up in Perry County? Do you still live there? Best wishes, Tony from Kentucky

  • Tony, I will definitely put some more songs up when i get a chance to do it. I actually grew up in Indiana. My entire family is from eastern Kentucky. It's always been my second home. Best regards!!

  • Good Video, Thx for Posting...

I live in the Ky/Wv area, and have worked in the mines for some time now..

Since the past election its sad to say that all the mines have shut down in my area and hundreds of men are without a job now, including me..

I think it sucks because i love mining coal.

I feel like a band of brothers have been torn apart..

They can take a Coalminers job away,,, but they'll never take coalmining out of his blood and soul.

    God Bless all the Miners.

  • @89witchhunter miners used to not even make money at all....they bwere payed in scrip

  • @89witchhunter Nothing has ever cost so much and paid so little.

  • Good song love it. Good vocal as well make some more songs.

  • Nice video, great pix. For those who like coal mining songs, check out the late great Hazel Dickens and the late Carl Rutherford of War, WV - coal mining songs written and sung by a real coal miner.

Also the compilations "Music of Coal" available from Lonesome Pine Office on Youth and "Coal Mining Women" available from Amazon are excellent.

  • This is my new favorite song. I'm 6th generation born in Appalachian coal mining country. At 22 I moved out west for "a better life." I know what it's like to feel overwhelming love and pride for my region and still fear becoming trapped in the cycle of poverty as more and more mines shut down. The hill folk of Appalachia are some of the best people that God ever put on this earth and we should all be very very proud to call that region home!

  • @89witchhunter i think 90% of mining history the miners were underpayed and bein worked to the death in the mines.its the last couple of years that the things got better.but coal dust is coal dust for the lungs.

p.s. sorry for my bad english i dont come from english speaking country.

  • love the song man, i got to say when i first heard it ,it brought tears to my eyes! and i wasn't even drinkn hear me ! i'm from the hills too ,was on the strip but work for kanawha stone now,but anyway touched my old cold heart love the song keep up the good work!!! redneck recycling, from west by god virgina!!

  • I have a tremendous respect for the coal miners ... they worked so hard, long hours, a dangerous job, and detrimental to one's health as well. In Pennsylvania, where I live, the anthracite coal miners were not much better than slaves: the company owned your house - a crummy wooden shack really, you had to buy from the company store which charged more than town folks had to pay, the company controlled your life ...
