Jed Lowrie singles to left field during a November 14 Arizona Fall League game between the Mesa Solar Sox and the Scottsdale Scorpions. The switch-hitter was drafted by the Boston Red Sox with their first round compensation pick (45th overall) in the 2005 First-Year Player Draft out of Stanford. The second baseman batted .297/.410/.501 with eight home runs and 49 RBI for the Double-A Portland Sea Dogs of the Eastern League in 2007. He was promoted to Triple-A Pawtucket where he hit .300/.356/.506 with five home runs and 21 RBI in 160 at-bats.
