When indian classic music meets jazz: Barun Kumar Pal - whose Guru is Ravi Shankar - is definitely a great musician and the instrument he invented - Hansa Veena - derived from the slide guitar (used in blues or hawaian music) delivers incredible sounds. Doudou Gouirand developed his interest for traditional music from Africa, India, Brazil or Cuba after having studying and working with the great Don Cherry. He likes the idea of mixing jazz impro with these music forms, in a sort of fusion where each part plays his own language while being able to understand and melt with the other part.
