Wii Speckles

My Wii doesn't like stand-by mode. When you activate WiiConnect24, your Wii will stay in stand-by mode with an amber power light when not in use. Unfortunately, the fan on the Wii never runs when in this mode, and after a few months the GPU in my Wii has been damaged due to sitting in its own heat when in stand-by. This is my second time sending it in for repairs. If I turn off WiiConnect24, I can check for updates manually, and I won't risk burning out your GPU. However, I feel like I should be able to leave it on. They renew my 12 month warranty every time they fix it, but its a pain to send it in.

Does anyone else have this problem? Thoughts?
