'Mulagi Zali Ho', or 'A Girl Is Born' is a play about the plight of the girl child. Originally written by Jyoti Mhapsekar in 1983 it was performed by the cultural troupe of the Stree Mukti Sanghatana (Women's Liberation Organization) as 'Mukta natya' at various venues in Mumbai and all over Maharashtra. Since then it has been translated into 8 languages, enacted by over 100 groups in more than 2500 performances throughout India and abroad including performances at International Women Playwrights Conference at Adelaide, Australia in 1994 and also at International Women's Conference at Beijing in 1995.
