All That Jazz tells the semi-autobiographical story of Fosse through the life of Joe Gideon (Roy Scheider). Hugely successful at staging musicals and making movies, Gideon is beginning to feel the strain of his hedonistic lifestyle. A meeting with the "Angel Of Death" lets Gideon look back over his life in all its excessive detail.

Joe Gideon is a hedonistoc workaholic who knocks back a daily dose of amphetamines to juggle a new Broadway production while editing his new movie, not to mention ex-wife Audrey, steady girlfriend Kate, a young daughter, and various conquests. Joe cannot, however, avoid intimations of mortality from white-clad vision Angelique that lead him to look back at his life as he heads for a near-inevitable coronary.

  • This is absolutely intoxicating to watch. I can't get over it.

  • I adore this film - marvelous, gorgeous, melodious......with great acting, producing, editing, directing. Roy Scheider deserved the Oscar for this role - phenomenal acting. Other actors/actresses were brilliant too

1979 is one of my all time favorite years in film - All That Jazz, Alien, Rocky 2, Apocalypse Now, Moonraker, Mad Max, Kramer vs Kramer, The China Syndrome, The Brood, Tess, 1941 etc

  • One of my favorite films when I was in high school. That was 30 years ago! I've seen it numerous times, and as I get closer and closer to Joe Gideon's age, the film speaks even more deeply to me. See what all you youngsters have to look forward to?

  • Haha I started randomly singing this at work the other day... lol

  • Cirque Du Soleil inspired my high school dance team, our school is known for its good jazz dancers and unique performances, we have been wining many of our competitions every year, putting in a lot of effort and style has given us the advantage to win. • It was really a clever film about all that jazz involved in that business world of movies. Bob Fosse imagined his own life and physical decadence to write the plot. The result was spectacular as can be seen. He understood perfectly that the show must go on and on, above all.

    Thanks for uploading.

  • Donkey Balls

  • Great scene from the movie. Lots of nudity in that scene if I remember right. Smart movie to not show it here ;)
