A tribute to the born-survivor - Norwegian actress ARLENE DAHL(born 1928)
Pictured: Peder Larsson(a Swede), his wife Sigrid Swangrønning, Anne Brobak holding her grandchild, a very young future actress ARLENE DAHL and Anne`s husband Johan Svangrønning.
Arlene`s mother Ingeborg died before Arlene reached womanhood and her father was Rudolf Dahl. Her parents seperated when she was quite young and when her stepmother made it clear she didn`t like her, she was on her own from her teens and proved to be a born survivor.
She still speaks and writes in our language. Indeed she taught her son Lorenzo the prayer "I Jesu Navn Går Vi Til Bords", but when he said the prayer in a Norwegian TV-show, Gylne Tider 2005, it was quite clear he had forgotten how to pronounce it, but he heralded his Mum`s Norwegian meatballs and that while growing up, her gløgg got him drunk during the christmas season.
My friend singer Stephen Ackles met her several years ago in Minnesota and talked about a star and a lady in the nicest sense of the word....
She is also seen with Elizabeth Taylor, Ann Miller, Chita Rivera, husbands Lex Barker, Fernando Lamas and Marc Rosen, children Lorenzo Lamas, Carole Holmes McCarthy and Rounseville Andreas Rounseville.
When Christopher Barker found himself without parents by the early 70s, Arlene moved into the role as a surrogatemother to her first husband`s son...
Grandchild Shayne Lamas is also seen in the family picture from 2004.
She`s also seen with Rhonda Fleming and Ted deCorsia in the film noir "Slightly Scarlet" 1956, with Lamas in "Sangaree" 1953 and the poster of the 1959 "Journey to the Centre of the Earth" (Lorenzo is visiting the set and Gertrude the Duck hehe), her 1962 Las Vegas act, 60s Laugh In and numerous functions from the first decade of the 2000s....(including her 20th Anniversary celebration with husband Marc Rosen).
See it as 6Hdbeu5ApCg for excerpts with her in 1956 "Wicked as they Come" / "Portrait in Smoke". I saw her in the Castro Theater in San Francisco few years ago discussing that movie. She still looked great.

The background music accompanying the video is an instrumental medley of songs from the 1953 musical "KISS ME KATE" - music by Cole Porter. The first song is "I'm always true to you in my fashion". The second is "Wunderbar". The third is "Were Thine That Special Face".
