This is me playing the first movement (Moderato) of Koyunbaba, piece written by the italian guitarist and composer Carlo Domeniconi....

The following are the informations about the story of the piece as it is shown on Wikipedia: "Domeniconi possibly is most well known for his 1985 piece Koyunbaba. The name is actually Turkish and literally translates as "sheep-father" (koyun-baba), or "shepherd", some sources also translate it to "the spirit of the sheep", but also refers to many other things, including a 13th century mystical saint-like figure whose grave is decorated with coloured bits of cloth by Turkish villagers seeking his help with family problems. "Koyunbaba" is also the family name of his descendants, who still reside in the area, and the name of a wild, dry region of Southwest Turkey. According to local legend, the area is seemingly cursed - numerous people who have attempted to rent or purchase the land from the Koyunbaba family have died or fallen ill. Domeniconi has referred to two specific examples: one was a German woman who wanted to keep the area in its natural and unspoiled state, but was soon stricken with cancer. The other was one of three sons of the Koyunbaba family who suddenly sold some of the land, but then hanged himself."

Koyunbaba Suite:

1) Moderato
2) Mosso
3) Cantabile
4) Presto

I hope you will like it!!! :-D

  • Very interesting and very nice interpretation of " Koyunbaba family have died or fallen ill". The sound likes middle east music....... Thanks for sharing.

  • @komodo93433

    Thanks to you!!!! :-D

  • Shame I have such small hands that I can't sometimes get those barres and all that.

It hurts my fingers so bad. Even though I have developed calluses.

  • @MrGuitarrica

Actually, my hands are not so big...they are normal size....it all depends on flexibility :-D

  • But anyway, do not hurt yourself: take your time, and fo not be in a rush in learning the piece.....your hands need to get used to new patterns.....and for that, you also need to have some good thecnical exercices.....

  • @TetecaGuitar Thanks man.

I think that someday I might actually be as good as you are. :-D

    (After 20 years) =d

  • @MrGuitarrica

Oh well, that's quite fast learning man!!! :-D

I am happy you liked the piece, and that you got motivated to learn more classical repertoire: there are so many beautiful pieces for this fantastic instrument!!!

  • @TetecaGuitar Ok bravo!!

    :-D

When I started playing guitar I started with classical guitar. I didn't get the motivation to learn all the songs by notes but I somehow just did. When I heard Moderato Koyunbaba....I got chills in my spine. I got so motivated that I'm almost finished with that Moderato part. I started learning it today! =D

  • @MrGuitarrica

    Hi!!! Thanks for clapping!!! :-D

I usually read notes, so what I do usually is learning pieces by sightreading them, and then I take the time to learn them (according to the level of difficulty of the piece)....so, sometimes I make the video after 1 or 2 days of practice.....but it is not the case of this one!!!! :-D

  • Bravissimo!!!

I am totally clapping for you in front of my PC monitor.

Gladly I found a TAB of this in classtab.org so I am going to learn this too.

How do you exactly learn your songs?

    By ear? With Notes?
