This is a classic scene with wood flooring inspector Jeff Meltzer that you don't want to miss. The inspector doesn't hold back and issues a warning about the pitfalls when it comes to choosing the right flooring contractor.
Explains the tell signs of a good installer and gives an example of even a general contractor making hardwood flooring nonsense.
Finally the session is rounded off with a word on Manufacturers (and teh general quality of product currently on the market) and teh use of Handy-Men instead of dedicated flooring contractors.
Jeff does get fired up - so be prepared -there's no stopping. Complete with Doctor-Hospital analogies. Jeff breaks it down how it really is.

  • woodfloorguru you're just a sales man, trying to sell your store and products

watching your explanations on wood floors is a waste of time.

  • the problem is that most of the time people dont want to pay so they end up getting the big stiffie people always want the cheapest shit and besides this asshole didnt say how to identify a good installer, and woodflooring is so easy anybody can do it woodflooring is like plumbing all you need to know is that shit rolls down and pay day is on fridays

  • pick someone who can rack out worth a shit. not someone who puts micro laps everywhere. and someone who can sand worth a shit. trust me dude my dad knows everything. over 20 years in the business. also sometimes the tongues split because the wood is milled too tight. like Brazilian cherry.

  • ask him anything. he knows it. i'm not bragging.

  • my dad is the best.

  • I am planning to replace my carpet with hardwood.I had couple of my friends saying they know hot to intall it. Watching couple of video including this one, I think I sould go a professional rather than "I Know or i wanna be".

  • lakergrlsrhot1 - I'm an expert with 36 years experience and I don't need an inspector to give me advice on how to install a wood floor. How many years experience do you have???

  • I will answer your question.

his world is full of people that think they should be paid for experience that somebody else paid the dues to get.....

Simply put most of the installers I inspect their work simply do not know the rules of installation, that is not their main business. This is why an inspector is needed

  • lakergrlsrhot1 - "If you don't like this world go to another world

good luck on mars" Was that comment aimed at me?If it was let me tell you where I stand in this world as you put it (I am an expert with 36 years of experience which is enough to put most of the so called experts to bloody shame

  • I am an expert witness for court cases..I you need me to testify let me know
