Porsche Boxster. Originally introduced more than a decade ago, the Porsche Boxster still has the power to turn heads and make hearts race. A sleek profile, voluptuous fenders and intoxicating exhaust note let the world know that the Boxster is every bit a proper sports car -- a sports car that also makes a surprisingly good daily driver thanks to a roomy cabin, twin front and rear trunks and respectable fuel economy.

Welcome to our comprehensive Kelley Blue Book review of the Porsche Boxster.

  • @FearOfTheFlesh the front of the boxster s and 911 is the same no difference. The real difference between the two is the handling. Boxster s goes like a go cart, something the 911 series lack. It goes where you point it, even at high speeds with no fear of spinning out. something 911 cant do, yes 911 on highways will beat you, in city driving the 911 has a hard time keeping up with the boxster s because of its heavy back

  • @emanko111

    1. Sorry, but that`s not possible. If you really want AWD you gotta look for a 911 carrera 4. They are more expensive though.

    2. The rear window doesn`t like the cold that much. Personally, I use a hardtop during the winter. You can get them around 1k to 3k and there are different types as well. There is even one that makes the Boxster look like a Cayman.

  • @carbondragon6 That's how Porsche is actually pronounced. Over here in the U.S. we always assume that the "e" is silent, however it is a german company so the name is german. In turn you pronounce the "e".

  • I didn't know there was an A in porsche?

  • DVD based navigation? what is that?

  • Those Suitcases will be ruined if a crash comes..

  • @saeidmomtahan That sure sounds like the intermedate shaft bearing, a common problem with the M96 and even M97 engines in both the Boxsters and 996s. With water and oil mixing you may be to late, but then again if itis still running it means you havn't had complete failure so it may only be a couple of a grand instead of $20K for a motor. Check Pelican Parts for good info on this subject and some of the repair options.

  • @Tinsby

Not sure if you saw my other post. But I got the service and maintenance records from the workshop where it's been worked on for the past few years. In the last 24 months, the previous owner spend over 15000$ on repairs and maintenance.

I honestly attribute this to my bad karma. i used to buy and sell cars before and i think I might have, well.. must have, screwed some one. So here it is, coming back at me, with interest.

I'm spending a couple Ks more on it. If not fixed, I'll junk it.

  • @saeidmomtahan I appreciate your sentiments especially right at the moment. I will admit I am no millionaire but was a technician for 18 years +. Right now I do not do my own maintenance because the car is under factory warranty and I have no way to prove that I did the work. if a catastrophe happens I can show the dealer records to Porsche. I would suggest that your car was 'sick' before you got it and unfortunately you end up with a huge bill to make it right. After it's fixed it WILL be fun!

  • @Tinsby I should hear something from the mechanic in the next day or two. Trouble is, I'm traveling for the next 2-3 months and have no idea what's gonna happen with the Boxster.

I can tell you this much, this will be my last German car. Unless if I become a multi millionaire. Cause that's what it takes to keep and maintain a German car.

    With greetings from Iran

  • @saeidmomtahan

My friend, I am sorry to hear of your troubles! You sure didn't get to drive it much before it failed.

I hope the repair won't be too expensive but something like that can take the fun out of the experience real fast. There is a very good forum for 986 987Boxster owners at 986forum dot com There are many great guys in there and lots of information about the 986/987. I am a member there as well. I wish you good luck and hope you are back on the road soon! Boxsters are FUN!
