What wonderful singing! I love this operetta - such a perfect blend of music and sentiment. I only wish my knowledge of German was better.

Wunderlich's voice is splendid in this recording and his Hochdeutsch is impeccably clear. Adolf Dallapozza in another great "Vogelhaendler" recording uses a more Austrian pronunciation.

Thank you very much for sharing ! I have always been very impressed by Wunderlich and by this operette. This is an absolutely flawless, wonderful rendition for Schenkt man sich rosen, makes your heart melt....
There is another rendition I simply love, not as prefect but so romantic and passionate that one forgives and forgets the imperfect German ;-) I have created a small tribute to it on my channel so anyone wishing to discover a different interpretation is more than welcome.

a medieval mountain dialect which is
EXTREMELY difficult to pull off, and then lead into the grand cabaletta, which is pure grand opera. Wunderlich is as glorious a "Vogelhandler aus Tirol" as has ever been recorded. BRAVISSIMO!
