Zulu Alert is a defensive posture whose purpose is to have fully armed and fueled fighter aircraft sitting on a runway apron ready to go at a moments notice. Once airborne, the mission of an aircraft on Zulu Alert is to intercept (and shoot down if need be) any hostile/unfriendly whom may attempt to penetrate friendly friendly or otherwise restricted airspace.
Like a fireman that is on call; aircraft, pilots, and ground crew on Zulu Alert sat prepared 24 hours a day.
Until fully briefed, pilots have no idea if their mission is a simple training training sortie or in response to an attack within their sector.
LoL, great production, ironroad18...
Question - I've always been curious if the F-15C can carry AMRAAM on the fuselage stations like the F-15E can on the CFT, or only sparrow??
