I don't often post comments on Youtube but thought I'd be nice and answer some of the questions I'm seeing here about Yoshi and SMW before they ended up on the Super Famicom/Super NES.
First, about Yoshi. Yoshi was originally planned to make his first appearance in the version of Super Mario 2 we got here in the US and Europe.. However they could not include him due to space limitations.
SMW indeed was planned for the NES. At first it was known as Super Mario Bros. 4...

@Huntereb35000vr Sonic 2 Beta was leaked the SMW one wasn't leaked so it's a replica!
-
@SemSlideProductions well Yoshi was prepared for SMB3 but!
the power of the NES cannot handle it so
SMW get ported for the SNES (that's what I think)

@Huntereb35000vr This isn't a real SMW beta. It's just a hack made to try to recreate the beta as closely as possible, given what little info we have about it.

@KlanOGITH Ah. I have no idea, you'd have to contact the creator and ask them.
-
@KlanOGITH I assume? I haven't played through farther than this. I haven't LPed through to the end of it, if that's what you mean.
However, the project grew too large for the NES and was moved to the brand new 16 bit system. The full name of the game became Super Mario Bros. 4: Super Mario World. In the US and Europe, the title is just Super Mario World. Japan got the full title-the Super Mario Bros 4 part is even on the box for the game there. Much of the game was already complete when it got moved to the SNES/SFC, all that was left then to do was add the extra levels/other things that warranted the move.

@bh7812 Hmm, interesting. For someone who plays a lot of Mario, I don't know much of the history when compared to, say, Sonic or Zelda. Thanks for the informative post!

Hey, is it true that SMW was originally developed on the NES, then heavily modified to show off the SNES' capabilities?

@SemSlideProductions No idea, but it wouldn't surprise me.
