I agree. I only hope it's optional... Compiz + Some plugins do the same with much much more style...
If gnome-shell comes preinstalled, am off to KDE!

Now KDE is controlled by Microsoft so open source supporters shouldn't use it. Gnome has an extremely good library called GTK+3 that now can perfectly compete with QT (the library used by KDE).

KDE is a bucket of nicely painted crap that can't even run two sound cards properly. I'm staying with Gnome.

Não gostei. Com o Gnome Shell você tem que usar muito o mouse para fazer tarefas que antes bastavam poucos cliques, agora são muitos cliques.
O que o Gnome deveria fazer é simplificar o uso da área de trabalho na sua versão 3, e não deixá-la mais complicado.
Que venha o Unity da Canonical para substituir o horroroso Gnome e família.

@mytube232 Even if it would, you can still fall back to your loved compiz, just write compiz --replace and it will be done... (eventually add it to your default session, but I believe ubuntu developers will create some BFUid GUI for BFUs)

sudo apt-get install gnome-shell
and to start make a starter with
gnome-shell --replace
or write it into the console :-)
