  • extrem guter auspuffschlag!

sind die loks eigentlich mit normalen dampfmaschinen ausgerüstet?

  • After working up a thirst on the train, treat yourself to az well-deserved drink with lunch at the restaurant at the peak. Be sure to leave yourself enough time after the return trip so as to take a delightful boat cruise when you get back to the lake. And by the way, just as you would expect, the beer is great --- everywhere. But then so is the wine.

  • Not only is the train ride a joy in itself. But as you can see, when you get to the top, the view is breathtaking even thogh it way be a bit of a challenge for the vertigo sufferers among us.

  • Schöne Bahn. Muss ich auch mal hin.

  • My word, that's steep. That would make me nervous.

    :-/

  • I wish someone important could be convinced. Oh well.

  • You're so right man!

Large scale steam is a problem of understatement and will, and the will to see to possibility and not wipe it away with the words of old technology! Each coal combustion power plant shows highst efficiency, so there are some strange arguments against steam, and: It's worth to give it a try, but a fair try!

  • Yeah. But the management has decided steam has to go. There will be pockets of modernized steam, but nobody important will ever be convinced to put it into large scale practice.

  • Very cool! Europeans modernest steam engines on tour... Did you know, that those engies outbeat Diesel traction on those lines?

Those engines have a computer controlled fuel combustion, highest boiler efficience and about 1/3 more power of Diesel engines at one quart less fuel consumption!

Those engines show, that steam has a future!

  • Wow! This brings back some memories, although they've changed the station at the top since I went waaay back in the 1970's. Good memories, though. Wonder if the eagle's nest is still in a crack on the rockface just below the back of the restaurant on the Schafberg. Having it swoop an arm's length over my head was a thrill I can't describe. Stayed in the Schloss Eibenstein in St Wolfgang...
