Tizway handled a deep and talented field, two turns, and 1 1/8 miles with aplomb Saturday afternoon at Saratoga Race Course, rolling to an emphatic three-length victory over Flat Out in the 84th running of the Grade 1, $750,000 Whitney Invitational Handicap.

Before a crowd of 34,412, Tizway stayed comfortably close to fractions of 24.31, 49.11 and 1:13.85 set by Friend Or Foe before making his move at the five-eighths pole. Taking over on the turn, Tizway barreled into the stretch with a clear lead and easily held off the late run from Flat Out, cruising under the wire in 1:52.43.

  • @tigerboy1966 He is definitely not chestnut. ive seen the horse in person a dozen times

  • nee

  • Can this horse really win the Classic?

  • Just a note for the pedigree fans,: Tizway is officially dark bay/brown which is very obviously WRONG. He's a chestnut, albeit a very dark one.

  • @rpb15007 Noticed in the Test that the speed horses were under hammerlocks which had an impact on the opening quarter/half. Did the track favor stretch runners?

  • @rpb15007 I did not see the other races. Just watched the Test... slow 23 opening quarter and they picked it up a bit with a decent 45 4/5 half. I would have to watch the other races but I take your word for it. The half of 49 is still slow, but I will correct myself and retract the ridiculous. It is a weak division but that is not a surprise to anyone. I can only imagine what a Farma Way, Jolie's Halo, in Excess, or Sea Cadet would do today with their quickness..

  • @bg147 maybe you should realize how slow the track was...they didnt water it like usual bc they were expecting more rain. then with the small amount of added rain up until the race, made the track heavy...pay attention to the final time for the TEST stakes...come on now

  • That was a grade 1? Ridiculously slow fractions. Giant Oak ran huge to close into it.

  • @unbridledTV

Easily totally agreed upon! And subbed, please accept my friendinvite :o)

Love those patient connections, love to see Tizway burning the disco out.

  • Nice to see a 6 year-old healthy, winning, and sound as the result of a patient training regimen. All to often horses are dismissed when they don't blossom at 2 and 3. Jim Bond shared insights into his approach with thoroughbres in an unbridledTV interview on youtube. Will's Way to Tizway...the way of Bond appears to be the right way. Congratulations 007.
