Ihren ersten Auftritt vor deutschem Publikum hatte Lana Del Rey im deutschen Fernsehen am 12. November 2011 in der ARD-Sendung Inas Nacht sowie bei zwei ausverkauften Konzerten ebenfalls am 12. November 2011 in Köln und am 14. November 2011 in Berlin. Ihr Debütalbum Born to Die ist für Ende Januar 2012 angekündigt.
Elizabeth Grant (born June 21, 1986) better known by her stage name Lana Del Rey is an American singer-songwriter. Her stage name is a combination of the late old Hollywood actress Lana Turner and the Ford Del Rey. She calls herself the "gangsta Nancy Sinatra". Lana Del Rey cites Kurt Cobain, Thomas Newman and Bruce Springsteen as her musical influences.
Grant was born in New York City and grew up in Lake Placid, New York. When she was fifteen, she left Lake Placid to go to boarding school in Connecticut. She is the daughter of domain investor and millionaire Rob Grant. Lizzie Grant's management chose her stage name, Lana Del Rey, "I wanted to be a band but the label I was with and the team I had around me absolutely wanted me to be a solo artist. Lana Del Rey came from a series of managers and lawyers over the last 5 years who wanted a name that they thought better fit the sound of the music."
She released an EP titled Kill Kill in 2010. It was her first professionally produced EP, released under the stage name Lana Del Ray on an independent label with producer David Kahne, which was available for purchase on iTunes for a brief period before being withdrawn, for reasons yet to be made clear. When she was recording, Lizzy got to meet Paul McCartney. Lizzy said she saw a toy piano that made what she called a "sparkly jewelry box sound" and said she wanted to use it for her album, but Kahne said she couldn't since it was already on McCartney's. When she made a face, McCartney tried to comfort her. Her father Rob Grant, who has been helping his daughter market her album, said it's very exciting to live vicariously through her.
