Reviewing the Kabar, this blade is good purchase for anyone starting out. Very good as a wilderness survival blade . With a price tag from $60-$80 great investment for a great product.

  • I'd like to know if you have reprofiled that knife to the 22 degree bevel rather than the poor factory edge that usually comes on a kabar. I have a 1968 Camillus pilot knife that I couldn't do much with either until I reprofiled the edge to that long beveled edge. Now it's a phenomenal blade. I might be wrong, but you might try that and see if you can't get a WHOLE lot more out of that Kabar.

Also... presently, do you like the CSRS or your Tom Brown Tracker better?

  • The CS Recon Scout is not mine, it's a friend's. I used it for a few weeks to test and review. It's a good knife, but for me personally I prefer my TBT. It's a funny topic, in my experience a lot of "Knife" people who are really into knife collecting, making, and knowledgeable about really high end blades hate the TBT. But then I speak with a lot of military guys, outdoors types who use and love the TBT, like Dave Canterbury. All I can say is try it out if you can before you buy it.

  • My knife making friend has placed a good 2nd grind on that knife for me. I will have to get the specifics on what he did and let you know. It's a good knife though.

  • happy new year 5/5m8

  • That is a next gen correct? Is it the older version with 12C27 steel or the new 440 version?

  • I do love my Ka-bar, it seems to be a great overall camp knife. My only issue with it is it seems to lose the sharpness somewhat quickly, and I am always worried I will snap the tip off; I think the tanto version may be a good investment.

  • the sheath coast $250.00 thats a real lot

  • i had the huge version of that while i was in iraq awsome knife lost its edge quick but sharpening is a good pass time i used mine for everything though prying things open and what not but i was overall happy with it

  • how can i make my bk2 razor sharp

  • how do i make a bk2 paper sliceing sharp like no problem going through the paper

  • Good review. I've carried the same USMC knife (although mine is stamped USN) for 50 years and have been extremely satisfied.

  • btw, i think its a 7 in. blade
