@madmshouse A well-armed population does not have a causal relationship to its crime rate. Look at Switzerland, perhaps the most armed nation in the world. Every Swiss male is either a soldier or a reserve soldier, keeping a military rifle at home. Is Switzerland awash in blood? No. Why? Because the Swiss are a homogeneous population without the kind of economic stratification that makes our ghettos such a cesspool of crime and violence.

Living in fear is not freedom, freedom is walking down the street without a care in the world without worrying about if the person is next to you is a nutter or not because he/she will not harm you! Don't you see carrying guns is a vicious circle???

@nekftw Doing whatever the hell you want to do is not freedom. It's anarchy. Try doing whatever the hell you wanted to do that the State forbids you to do and see how free you really are. Try doing it especially when the State is keeping you from doing something that is indubitably right to do. That's the only test of freedom. You're free to do only right not evil. To be kept by someone from doing right yet allowed to do anything else you want to do is to live without chains inside a cage.
