  • much as i love zeniths(have 3-a '67 b/w,71 avanti,89 system 3)most stupid thing ever-the 1970 'color command' control, which was just a renamed contrast control, and the much-used color level was relegated to the 'enclosed area'

  • I agree. I too have brought up my dislike for that control. It was never understood by the customer and it killed CRTs by over driving them as the contrast would be brought way up in which to compensate for weak color. They had the "chroma level" control too in the other control panel, but I dont think customers ever knew what to do with it. I keep that color commander control as low as possible and then just adjust the chroma control to bring the color to proper levels.

  • rca didn't use that crt face adhesive,, that was a great old set though i believe it had two modules in it. the start of the hybrids

  • Yep, the 12A12C52 was the beginning of the "dura-modules". This particular chassis has just one, the 9-27 chorma module. Its one of my favorite sets. Im watching it as I type this.

  • is the arial on the roof?

allso you get alot of local anlog stations were i live thers only 4 or five and they don`t all come in clear except ctv because the transmiter is down the street acouple of blocks from my house.

  • Yes, up in the attic is the arial which is attached to a rotater.

  • Thats cool! I love those huge wooden cabinets the CRT and electronics were housed in back then. That remote is pretty cool, too!

  • i have a 1988 general electric that sits in a wood box, and i love it. I just got lucky by looking at garage sales.

  • I wish someone would find the Zenith 1966 25 inch color TV model with the wood ralling in the back and flat legs (called "The Stockbridge"); square screen, and Space Command 600 remote control. That was The Taj Mahal of 1960's color TV's in my opinion!

  • does this picture tube have that same "cataract" thing going on you gave instruction on how to repair on an earlier model tv? Reason I asked, the edges all seem yellowed.

  • Do you know the demensions of that remote? Im trying to do something but i cant find any website that has the demensions.

    Thanks

  • can you get cable wiht that?

  • I heard that the discoloration around the picture tube is actually radiation. Seven years ago, I was given a Zenith tube type color TV and it had that problem. Sadly, I threw it away.

  • cool television, like that remote too.

  • I still have my grandmother's 1966 23" Zenith walnut finished danish modern tube color console very similar to yours. It also has the discoloration around the picture tube. It has straw like speaker grill cloth instead of the wood panels. It has two 6x9 speakers, two tweeters, and separate bass and treble controls. She did not order the space command as it was a rather high option at the time. I think the tv was almost 600.00 with out the space command It still works.

  • You've got to love Zenith.

  • Very nice ! 5*
