I was a nose wiper in 65,..and did not grow up listening to Mr Dylan, atall...
I became a Devotee after hearing his later works,.....especially "Love and Theft" 2001,..I have listened to that, many many times over, weeks at a time, like a truck stuck in granny gear, round and round it went ....love it so.
I always ponder the origins or instigating factors of a songs words,..it was cause to look up "Meaning of" .....had i been left to my own imaginationings.....I'd a thunk it possibly addressed Vietnam era war vets returning to a world so changed from the one they left behind, including girlfriends who had asked the hippies and beatniks in, in absence of boyfriends off to battle....just my tendency towards the romance of fictional scenarios.
I remember being shocked and appalled learning that the folk fans boo'd the electric Bob. Life is about changing, constantly! it's a good thing......how bout you? thots, anyone?--Wiki says Bob is mum on the subject...I loved his reference to Gene Vincent in RE writing these lyrics because I was/am a big Gene fan. ......Bob has good taste;-)
The baby painting was done by my true beatnik artist uncle, in the 60s..my eyes have taken it in thousands of times, i will forever love it....lil road cam at end was by the hand of one teen son....the site, old highway 49 leading down to the confluence of the American River,--seen in month of July...Auburn CA.
