The accompanying video for "Praise You" was directed by music video director Spike Jonze. Jonze starred in the film under the pseudonym Richard Koufey, along with a fictional dance group, the Torrance Community Dance Group. Moreover, the video's lower third on MTV credits the video's direction as "Torrance Public Film Productions"

The video was shot guerilla-style (that is, on location without obtaining permission from the owners of the property) in front of puzzled onlookers outside a movie theatre in Westwood, California. In the video, Jonze and the dance group dance to "Praise You", much to the chagrin of the theatre owner who attempts to turn off their portable stereo.

The video won three major awards at the 1999 MTV Video Music Awards: Breakthrough Video, Best Direction (awarded to "Torrance Community Dance Group") and Best Choreography (awarded to "Richard Koufey & Michael Rooney"). It was also nominated for, but did not win, Best Dance Video.

  • Could there be a better combination of artists than Spike muthafuckin' Jonze and Fatboy Slim? Honestly, the complete lack of inhibition just makes this a joy to watch.

  • makes me smile everytime i see it

  • its curious to see those dancers feeling free, moving around with the music, and the other people in a queue, like slaves or something.

  • I was lucky; the first time I saw this, I had no way of knowing that these guys weren't sincere! By the end, I had gotten a pretty clear message that this was a gag (especially when the guy turned the music off and Jonze jumped on him, LOL) but it wasn't easy. There are a lot of... interesting people in the world, so it could've been for real. As it is, it's a heck of a lot funnier now that I know it's a prank of sorts.

  • Great, wonderful, fantastic!!!! ;-)

  • now thats a blast.

  • Awesome! I've been showed that video at school and I found it again now, same feeling as the first time I saw it: gives me the lust to dance in the street! That's freedom's definition.

  • absolutely brilliant

  • OMG TEAR!

  • pure awesomeness. spike jonze should have a shrine devoted to him.
